The Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company is an organization dedicated to providing quality Fire & Emergency Medical Services to our communities. Our personnel is comprised of approximately 70 active volunteer firefighter/EMT's. Our primary area protects a population of 6500 that covers 33 square miles of vast rural and historic district.

The Whiteford VFC is dedicated to serving the citizens of Whiteford, Cardiff, Pylesville and Street areas. We also provide mutual aid to the surrounding Mason-Dixon line communities that include Airville, Bel Air, Darlington, Delta, Fawn Grove, Jarrttesville, Norrisville, Rawlinsville, and Stewartstown.

BOX 729 - MUTUAL AID - ENVIRONMENTAL RESCUE
Saturday, May 25, 2013 
-
Jarrettsville, MD - At 15300hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for T631 as part of the Technical Rescue assignment mutual aid to Jarrettsville VFC first due for a fall victim at the Rocks State Park on Chrome Rocks Rd. At 1537hrs. T631 called en-route and was advised that a juvenile female had fallen 40-50ft. from the King & Queen seat. The King & Queen seat is a natural rock outcropping that is situated some 200ft above Deer Creek. At 1546hrs. units arrived and traveled on foot to gain access to the remote area where the patient was located. Command then requested SU688 (Gator) to the scene to assist with patient extrication. At 1559hrs. U671/SU688 arrived and responded to the patients location. The patient was then package and transported by SU688 the main road to awaiting EMS crew. The patient was flown by MSP Medi-Vac to John Hopkins for further treatment. Units cleared at 1659hrs.

BOX 57-03 - MUTUAL AID -2A DWELLING FIRE
Sunday, May 19, 2013

Peach Bottom Township, PA - At 1148hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for 2 engines & the truck mutual aid to York Co. Sta. 57 first due for a dwelling fire at the intersection of Flintville & Paper Mill roads. At 1151hrs. E612 & T631 called en-route, followed shortly by E611. At 1159hrs.. YC E57-3 & E612 arrived and found heavy fire to a 2 1/2 story wood frame dwelling. Crews deployed 2" & 1-3/4 lines into service, with arriving crews laddering and venting the roof. During the duration, Command 57 requested additional units to the scene for manpower & water. A draft site was established at the boat launch adjacent to the Peach Bottom Atomic Plant located approx. 1/2 mile from the scene. The fire was declared under control at 1315hrs.. Crews assisted with overhaul operations and packing up hose lines. Units cleared at 1502hrs.

2012 ANNUAL BANQUET

Over 120 people attended the Whiteford VFC annual banquet held at the fire station. The event emcee was past Deputy Chief Rusty Leftwich. Several members were recognized for the past year efforts and dedication. This year's highlights was the 3rd. Chief's Life-Saving Award. After the awards ceremony, the membership enjoyed the music & dance portion at the Whiteford American Legion.

A special thank you to Rawlinsville VFC for standing by to allow the members enjoy the evening.

The below listed personnel received awards:

Chief's Life-Saving Award: The Chief's Life- Saving Award was a direct result of a cardiac arrest from a traumatic injury. On February 14, 2012, Atlantic Tractor employee, Tom Hall, was working under a lawn mover, when suddenly it collapse on top of him. The weight of the mower trapped him which crushed his neck and chest that caused him to quickly go unconscious. Other co-workers, including Firefighter Kyle Harrington, rushed to help their co-worker and quickly extricated him. Mr. Hall was found unresponsive and had no pulse nor was breathing. FF Harrington immediately began CPR until the arrival of EMS/Fire units. Paramedics found Mr. Hall still unresponsive, however, his pulse and breathing were restored. Mr. Hall was treated and flown by helicopter to Shock Trauma for further treatment. Mr. Hall was released after a short stay in the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery..

BOX 600 - MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT

Whiteford, MD -  At 0213hrs. Whiteford Volunteers night crews were suddenly awaken by a loud crashing sound from in front of the fire station. Crews immediately investigated and found a single vehicle on it's side lying in the firehouse entrance ramp. Crews began assessing the scene, responding equipment,  and notifying dispatch. Crews found the driver had self-extricated upon their arrival. The patient was treated and transported to Bayview Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Crews continued to control all hazards and assist with clean-up of the scene. The accident caused no disruption of services, with units responding to two (2) additional emergency calls during this period. Units cleared at 0329hrs.

BOX 924 - MUTUAL AID - WOODS FIRE

Street, MD - At 1627hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for B641 mutual aid to Co. 9 (Darlington) first due for a working woods fire in the 1200blk. of Macton Rd. Co. 9 units were on-scene of a large woods in a distant area. At 1629hrs. B641 & Chief 6 called en-route, with command immediately requesting SU688 (gator) and an E611 to the scene. At 1635hrs. SU688,U671, & E611 called en-route. Co. 6 units arrived and found a 2-3 acre working woods fire that was being driven by the windy conditions. The wind created multiple fire spots that hampered a quick knock down of the fire. WVFC crews assisted with fire suppression and overhaul operations throughout the incident. Units cleared at 1920hrs.

BOX 57-2 - MUTUAL AID - WORKING BARN FIRE
Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Peach Bottom Township, PA - At 1541hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for 2 engines & truck mutual aid to York Co. Sta. 57 (Delta-Cardiff) first due for a barn fire at the intersection of Orchard & Krick roads. At 1516hrs. T631 & E612 called en-route, followed by E611 at 1520hrs. Sta. 57 units arrived and found a 50x75 barn fully involved at location. At 1526hrs. Co. 6 units arrived. Command directed T631 into the driveway for aerial master stream, E612 to dump water into the Tanker 57, and E611 to laid 1000' of 4" from a near-by pond to the scene. Crews assisted with overhaul and ladder pipe operations. The barn contained numerous round bales that had to be individually removed and extinguished by personnel.  Units cleared at 1924hrs.

BOX 56-6 - MUTUAL AID - WOODS FIRE

Airville, PA - At 1528hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for an engine & brush unit mutual aid to York Co. Sta. 56 (Fawn Grove) first due for a large woods fire in the 8800blk. of Woodbine Rd. At 1530hrs. B641 & E611 called en route and arrived at 1548hrs. Sta. 56 and mutual aid companies were working on the containment of a 10-12 acres woods fire. During the duration of the incident, SU688 (Gator) and E612 were dispatched to the scene. Units cleared at 1847hrs.

It is with deep regret & sadness that the Whiteford & Delta-Cardiff VFC's announce the passing of member Betty Mae Gray.

Betty passed unexpectedly this morning from a medical emergency. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

Betty was a life member of the Delta-Cardiff VFC since 1975 and a supporting member of the Whiteford VFC since 2007. She served in the EMS/Fire, the Ladies Auxiliary, & Supporting member divisions during her tenure and received many awards recognizing her efforts of active service.

Betty has several family members that serve in both fire companies.

Betty was well-known around both firehouses. She was beloved and respected by both membership's and will be truly missed. We send our thoughts & prayers to her family and friends during this time of sadness.


 
BOX 57-01 - MUTUAL AID - WORKING DWELLING FIRE

Delta Boro, PA - At 2302hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for 2 engines & the truck mutual aid to York Co. Sta. 57 (Delta-Cardiff) first due as part of  the 1st. alarm for a dwelling fire in the 500blk. of Main St. At 2303hrs. E612 called en-route, followed shortly by T631 & E611. Sta. 57 units arrived on scene and found heavy smoke conditions to the basement and requested a working fire dispatch. At 2307hrs. Co. 6 units arrived and assisted with fire suppression and ventilation operations. Units cleared at 0142hrs.

BOX 601 - MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT

Whiteford, MD - At 1731hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched to the intersection of Rt. 165 (Pylesville Rd) & Dooley Rd. for an MVA w/Rescue. At 1732hrs. R651,T631,A692,PM-6, called en-route and arrived at 1734hrs. Crews found a three vehicle accident and no entrapment to any of the vehicles. Crews assisted with patient care and controlling hazards. One patient was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Units cleared at 1945hrs.

BOX 615 - WORKING SHED FIRE

Street, MD - At 0909hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched to the 3700blk. of Bay Rd. for a reported shed fire. At 0909hrs. Chief 6-9 called en-route and was advised by Dispatch that the caller reported a fire involving a shed and vehicles at location. At 0913hrs. E612 called en-route follow by E611 at 0917hrs. At 0913hrs. Chief 6-9 arrived and reported a working fire to a 15x30 shed and two vehicles. A working fire assignment was then dispatched bringing additional resources. At 0918hrs. E612 arrived and deployed two 1-3/4 hand lines and extinguished the fire in about 20mins. Crews had some difficulty reaching the scene to the steep driveway and debris surrounding the shed. The shed was found to been occupied by a relative of the landowner, who is receiving assistance from the Red Cross. Units cleared at 1032hrs.

The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company & the Maryland Sate Firemen's Association sadly announce the untimely passing of PVFC 1st. Vice President, Life member & pass MSFA President Lee Sachs. Lee had served in many administrative leadership roles in the fire service and will be missed by many of his brothers & sisters and the community. A Full Fire Department services will be held at Sol Levinson & Bros. 8900 Reisterstown Rd. at Mount Wilson Lane, on Friday December 21, at 11am. BOX 57-1 - MUTUAL AID - DWELLING FIRE
Monday, December 10, 2012

Delta Boro. PA - At 0708hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for 2 engines & a truck mutual-aid to York Co. Sta. 57 (Delta-Cardiff) for a dwelling fire in the 400blk. of Chestnut St. At 0712hrs. E612 called en-route, followed by T631 & E611 at 0716hrs. Units arrived and found a two-story dwelling with heavy smoke showing, and a working fire assignment was dispatched. E612 crew deployed a 1-3/4 line and found the seat of the fire in the basement and made a quick knock. Crews found that the fire had extended into the walls reaching to the attic area. Firefighters were hampered at the scene by a down high voltage power line that had fallen. This power line apparently back feed into the house which continued to energize the house wiring until turned off by the power company. The crews rapidly gain access to the fire in walls that was extinguished. The fire was placed under control in about 45 mins. Crews assisted with overhaul & salvage operations.

BOX 57-3 - MUTUAL AID- MVA w/RESCUE
Thursday, December 6, 2012

Peach Bottom Twp, PA - At 1500hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for R651 & A691 mutual-aid to York Co. Sta. 57 (Delta-Cardiff) first due for an motor vehicle accident w/rescue at the intersection of Lay & Flintville roads. At 1504hrs. R651 & A691 called en-route and arrived at 1519hrs. Crews found a two vehicle accident with one driver trapped inside the vehicle. Crews used the "Jaw of Life Hurst Tools"  to extricate the patient in about 15mins. with assistance from Sta. 57 & 56 personnel. The crew then assisted with hazard control and clean-up. A691 transported one patient to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. R651 cleared at 1551hrs.
