At 2107hrs. Whiteford Volunteers were dispatched for R651 to Conowingo Rd. near Shuresville Rd. to assist Co. 9 with an Motor Vehicle Accident with Rescue. At 2111hrs. Chief 6 & R651 called en-route & arrived at 2124hrs. Crews found a three MVA involving an impalement to one of the occupants. A 5'x1/2" reinforce rod had penetrated thru the driver's door and impaled though the driver's upper thigh. Crews assisted with stabilization of the area and set-up for extrication. The Shock Trauma Go-Team was requested and arrived on scene. Surgeons then sedated the patient for extrication. Crews slowly worked with the saw-saw, Hurst pedal & hydraulic cutters to free the patient in about 51 mins. The patient was then transferred to EMS personnel for transport to Shock Trauma. Unit cleared at 2300hrs.
